Shelby's Christmas Raffle Winners!

JD - Hi everyone! The humans are back from London and we're back from the kennels so we can FINALLY do a post about Shelby's Christmas raffle!

Max - We're sorry it's a bit late - the draw WAS supposed to be last weekend but had to be put off until the 8th because of the bad weather we've had in the UK.

JD - And then as soon as the draw happened the humans went to London and we went to the kennels - it was all a bit up-in-the-air we're afraid! So we mailed the winners to Mona so that she could get the word out about who the lucky winners are.

Max - But, without further ado, here - at last! - is the photo edition of Shelby's Christmas raffle!

JD - On Thursday morning FH wrote down the names of everyone who had entered together with who had purchased the tickets - she wishes she had printed it out as it took her nearly 2 hours to do this, he he he!

Max - We then chose a box for her to put all the tickets into....

We thought this was a most suitable container to hold the tickets!

Just LOOK at all those tickets!! Thank you so much everyone who purchased a ticket!

JD - As quite a few of the prizes have been supplied by Lily's human Jo we asked Jo if she'd draw the 4 winning tickets and were delighted when she said yes!

Our beautiful and generous GSD pal Lily - isn't she just gorgeous?!

Max - We LOVE Jo - she makes such a fuss of us and gives us treats and cuddles and tells us we're good boys and handsome boys - sigh! She's our most favourite human in the whole wide World!

FH - Um, Max?

Max - Oh, er, yeah - I meant our most favourite AFTER you and MH - ahem.....

JD - Nicely backpawed there Max! Anyway, Jo is great! She doesn't blog so we also figured she'd also be a really 'impawtial' person to carry out the prize draw!

We sit like good boys for Jo and get a yummy treat as a reward!

Max - "Jo, Jo! You love ME the most don't you?! I'm sure you're giving ME the biggest cuddle!"
JD - "Nice try Max, but just look how well I fit into Jo's side and look how tightly she's holding me - I'm OBVIOUSLY her favourite!"

Max - After all the obligatory cuddles and smoochies with Jo we waited patiently whilst she drew out the 4 prizewinners!

JD - We gave the box a huge shake between each draw - and these were the tickets that came out.....

1st place winner - Trixie and Minnie with a ticket that Barbara Bassett had bought - well done!!

2nd place winner - JD and Max with a ticket from Oskar! We were so excited, but FH pointed out to us that it was highly likely that Santa Paws could be bringing us some of the items in the prize packages so we agreed that the 2nd place ticket should be drawn again. But we want to say thank you, THANK YOU to Oskar! He's just the best - so generous to get us a ticket and help Shelby - this is why he's our best-est blogging pal! If you don't know Oskar (then you've probably been living on the moon!) then please do visit him, he has such a fun blog. AND he also runs PBU (Pet Blogs United) with his mom person, which is a great blog-forum to meet pals - you really should check it out. Yup - Oskar is the best and we're so happy to be able to call him our best pal!

3rd place winner - Scampi with a ticket from JD and Max!!

This is Scampi - isn't he cute!! We purchased some tickets for some of our local pals and were delighted when Jo picked out one of these in the draw! Scampi doesn't have a blog but he has appeared on ours a few times - when he knows what he's going to get for his 3rd place prize we'll post some photos for you all to see!

Max - Thank you so much to everyone who took part in Shelby's raffle - we had a lot of fun hosting it and we raised lots of green papers for Shelby and that's the main thing.

Shelby's Christmas Raffle!

Now, as you're probably all aware Miss Shelby is doing so much better now that her beautiful babies have moved onto the next stage in their lives - click here to read more about their exciting journey!

However, Miss Shelby still needs a lot more TLC which sadly for her will mean more visits to the vet, more medication and more treatment - all of which obviously comes with a price tag. We all want Miss Shelby to recover completely - it would be awful for her to have come this far and not make it all the way!

We were very proud to host the auction for Shelby in August and were delighted to be a part of everyone coming together to help raise money for this special girl. So we had an idea about throwing a Christmas raffle for Shelby too! This obviously won't be on the same scale as the auction as we'll only be raffling 4 prizes in total - but we really hope you'll join in as it's going to be LOTS of fun and you could end up with something REALLY GREAT for just a few dollars!!

So, without further ado let us entice you with the prizes. We have....

Pets Eye View Camera and Squeaky Dog Toy!

We love this camera and want one!! FH also decided to 'throw in' a fab squeaky cow doggie toy with this item - we're not sure why but we want the doggie toy too!! Digital Photo Frame

This would be a cool gift to win for your humans - a 5.6" digital photo frame (sorry for the photo being on its side - it kept on flipping back whenever we tried to rectify it!). There's not much more we can say about this really as everyone knows what a digital photo frame is - he he he! Oh, but it does also come with a 1gb flash card - that'll hold about 600 photos so that'll be MORE than enough images of yourself to thrill your humans with!

Dog Treat Package A

Now THIS is brilliant! Do you remember the pawsome octopus stuffie our good pal Lily the GSD got for JD when he had surgery on his paw? Well, that octopus was tough (it's still in one piece many months on, even after being chewed, buried and enduring many games of tug between the two of us!!) and that was the 'baby' of the family. Shelby - one very special girl!

Hi everyone! It's JD and Max's FH here (female human for those of you who aren't that familiar with their blog!). It's now one week on since Shelby's Auction event and I wanted to officially 'wrap it up' with a post that gives a big 'thank you' shout out to everyone who made it possible - and that's A LOT of people and pups and kitties!

Myself and my boys first became aware of sweet Shelby when quite a few of our blog pals kept mentioning this really cool pup called Mack, who was running a competition to help raise money for Shelby. We went over to his blog to check it out - for everyone who left a comment on one of his posts he was going to donate one dollar to Shelby. We thought this was a great idea and incredibly generous of Mack and his folks. So we got in touch with Mack's people to ask about Shelby - and they told us all about her. About how Sandra from Kissa-bull had found her abandoned in a parking lot and had rescued her, about how Sarah from Mona and the Mommy Too - who lived next door to Sandra - was helping with looking after Shelby. And about how everyone was worried about Shelby's vet fees as poor Shelby needed so much help.

Shelby, sweet trusting Shelby. As soon as me and the boys saw her smile and heard that she was still able to trust even after all she'd been through, I knew that this was one very, very special girl. And I knew that I wanted to help her in any way I could, which is when we hit on the idea of the auction. We had been inspired by Mack as well as by the amazing GABE event that Miss Twinkie had hosted earlier in the year (and to which we are really looking forward to again next year!) so we really hoped that an auction for Shelby would raise more money than we would have been able to simply donate on our own.

So we spread the word. We hoped that pups would be happy to donate items to the auction and we hoped that pups would also enjoy bidding on items. We'd like to take this opportunity to give a really big thank you to Mack, The Slimmer Pugs, Lola, Khyra, Mayzie, Oskar, Zona, Brodie, HoneyBuzz, Honey, Mona and Miss Molly who all supplied wonderful auction items. It seemed that every day another exciting auction item was being offered, we were blown away! As we were getting closer to the auction lots of pups spread the word - Shelby had touched everyones hearts and everyone wanted to help in whatever way they could!

The actual auction weekend was very exciting - bids seemed to be coming in left, right and centre! The time zone difference made it extra exciting for us - being UK doggies we used to wake up in hte morning to find our in-box full of bids and comments! When we first hit upon the idea of the auction we thought we might raise approximately $250, $300 if we were very fortunate, which is lots more than we could have donated on our own. We could never have imagined how successful it would be and when the auction ended with the final bid and donation total standing at $1,215.00 we were almost speechless!! And donations are still trickling in - we'll hopefully announce the 'overall' total next weekend.

We'd like to thank everyone who placed a bid and congratulate everyone who was lucky enough to place a winning bid! We think that everything has now been paid for (the PayPal account is held within the US) and all addresses have been sent out to the pups who are supplying the items so watch your post boxes for your winning items! The whole experience has been amazing and we feel honoured to have been a part of it all. We've made some amazing new friends as a result and we loved every minute of it! Thank you, thank you, thank you - your kindness is going to really help Shelby and her new puppies! What better way to show your support for Shelby than by showing your support of another pittie hero, Gunny! All pit bull lovers near and far know the amazing story of Gunny the pit bull. A former bait dog left to die on the side of the road, Gunny was rescued by North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue in North Carolina and went on to become one of the most beloved pit bulls in all the world (or he should be anyway!). This shirt was purchased by myself to help with their fundraising efforts even though I never wear crew neck t-shirts. So instead of it just sitting in a drawer, I am auctioning it off to help Team Shelby! It has never been worn, not even tried on (I really, really don't like crew necks). We hope you think this item is as special as we think it is. A genuine sterling silver bangle, purchased in Luxor, Egypt and never worn. FH bought it for herself a few years ago but then decided that bangles don't suit her - she's not wrong, he he he! But it means this beautiful piece has been sitting in a cloth bag at our home when it should be on the wrist of someone, being enjoyed by them. So FH decided to put this piece up for auction to help sweet Shelby.

We couldn't get a very clear close-up photo we're afraid - the top photo does not do this piece justice. The main feature is a 'cut-away' cartouche design, with the head of Nefartiti and Egyptian hieroglyphs underneath it. The actual bangle is three thin silver bands that run round in a circle (you can just see the three bands in the top photo, at the bottom). The bangle is secured by a discreet 'hook and eye' that is part of the design.

This really is a unique piece and is Egyptian themed as well as Egyptian crafted! Go on - treat you human to really special gift!
